Waterproof protectors should generally be placed on top of the bed sheet to prevent both the sheet and mattress from being soiled.

There are however some notable exceptions:

- if it's in a child's bed then protectors should be placed underneath the sheet to eliminate it as a choking hazard

- if the protector is small and the sleeper is active at night then placing it underneath the sheet reduces the risk of it moving

If the protector has an absorption layer then that layer should be facing upwards.

For disposables the white side should be facing up, and for washables the patterned/quilted side should be facing up. The non-slip mats have a rubber-feel backing that provides some adhesion to floors to reduce the risk of movement.

These can all be put in the washing machine on a gentle cycle.

You can! Just be sure to do so on a low heat of below 30 degrees C.

The bottom layer of all our washable protectors provide a significant amount of slip resistance. If you're particularly concerned then you should only consider the protectors designed specifically for mattresses, namely our fitted sheets, or our bed protector with tucks - as these items have sides that hold them in place.

- The second layer is a 270gsm polyester and Rayon soaker to draw in moisture
